Tom and Margie’s trip to New Mexico: The Cowgirl B-B-Q
We visited the Cowgirl B-B-Q for dinner on Sunday. It’s on the West side of town away from the plaza. This area is a little more quiet. The front of the restaurant is a large patio area with tables. Live music is performed here later in the evening. When we arrived, the patio was hopping. Folks were enjoying beers and other libations. It was a little chilly so we opted to eat indoors. We had a table near a window so we had a good view of the patio. We noticed several groups trading their outdoor tables for indoor ones. The menu was a nice mix of traditional b-b-q offerings and Southwestern favorites. I wanted both! I found that mix in a dish of smoked chicken enchiladas. Our server, Ryan, mentioned that he liked to add some fries to the traditional beans. Margie ordered b-b-q smothered chicken. We added a Santa Fe beer to the mix and we were on our way. At one point, Margie asked Ryan for some water and napkins. He let us know, “I have a lot of things to do”. We laughed and sent him on his way. He was a good server with a lot of good cheer. The restaurant is a good one if you have a family and don’t want to spend a lot of money. The food is good tasting and ultra local.
